Globalization has become a very peculiar process, with cultural and economical systems reorganizing in patterns that are very little understood. Here is an amazing scientist, artist, host, creator: Rita J. King understands perfectly well why Cultural Intelligence needs to inform our Intercultural Dialog, and what is the role of Imagination in this process. I love her remark about what is missing from STEM (Science / Technology / Engineering / Mathematics): it is the letter "A", standing for Arts, and that transforms a STEM into STEAM. Technology and Entrepreneurship have transformed globalization into a very complex process, which goes way beyond "conquering" new markets. Multicultural networks, real and virtual, have changed the way leaders communicate. As well as the way leaders relate to power, risk, individuality, team work, negotiations.
The 21st Century authentic Global Leader needs to be able to reach toward and connect to the inside of those whom he leads. For that he or she has to combine knowledge and several types if intelligence: cognitive (IQ), emotional (EQ) and cultural (CQ). As Forbes leadership columnist Mike Myatt writes, great leaders have to combine in their communication a cocktail of skills that includes: empathy, trust, clarity, mindfulness, humbleness, aesthetic distance, and genuine listening.
